Dubai’s road infrastructure is world-class — with multilane highways, clear signage in English and Arabic, and excellent urban planning. However, peak traffic hours (8:00–10:00 AM and 5:00–7:00 PM) can cause congestion along Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown, and Dubai Marina. Use Google Maps or Waze for real-time updates, and avoid last-minute lane changes — fines are strict.

Parking

Paid parking zones are widespread and regulated by RTA (Roads and Transport Authority). You can pay via SMS or through the RTA Dubai App. Shopping malls typically offer free or validated parking. In high-traffic areas like Downtown and The Palm, valet services are common but pricey.

Speed Limits and Road Rules

Urban speed limits range from 60–80 km/h, while highways like E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road) allow up to 100–120 km/h. Speed cameras are frequent, and violations come with steep fines. Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers, and mobile phone use while driving is strictly prohibited.

Weather and Road Conditions

Dubai’s roads are dry, smooth, and well-maintained. However, during rare rainstorms or sandstorms, visibility can drop significantly — slow down and use headlights. Summer temperatures often exceed 40°C, so ensure your vehicle is well-cooled and always keep water on hand.

Fueling Up

Fuel stations are plentiful and efficiently managed. Services are mostly full-service, with attendants available. Payment by card is widely accepted. Fuel is inexpensive by global standards — a full tank won’t break your budget.
