Rental Terms and Conditions

General Terms

  • Supplier reserves the right to refuse or cancel a booking at any time if you do not meet the renting requirements.
  • Please ensure that the driver's credit or debit card has sufficient funds available.
  • A valid driving license and passport must be held by all drivers.
  • All additional drivers must meet the same license requirements as the main driver. The first driver is included in the rates, but a daily charge for additional drivers may apply.
  • Airport shuttle service will be available and free of charge, within normal office hours, for all stations located outside the airport perimeter.
  • The vehicle must be returned to the pre-arranged rental station before the expiry of the rental period and in the same condition as when rented, without missing fuel, additional equipment, or parts, with normal wear and tear excepted, to avoid additional charges.
  • The vehicle is covered by roadside assistance for any mechanical faults. If the call-out is due to driver negligence, for example lost keys or running out of fuel, the renter may be charged a breakdown call-out fee.
  • Your reservation will be considered a NO-SHOW if you cannot be present on time at the station to pick up your car without prior notice. In this case, a no-show fee may be applied.
  • Local tolls or highway fees are charged to the driver and paid on the spot.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all OtoQ vehicles.

Security Deposit

  • The supplier requires a security deposit when you collect the vehicle.
  • The security deposit is deducted from your credit card according to your insurance package of your choice.
  • Cash and debit cards are not accepted.

Cross-Border Policy

  • Cross-border fee: €60.00 + VAT
  • Permitted travel countries/territories include: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Crete, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France (including Corsica), French Guiana, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy (Mainland), Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Northern Cyprus, Norway, Poland, Portugal (including Azores Islands), Reunion, Romania, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Martin, Sardinia, Serbia, Sicily, Sint Maarten, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including Balearic and Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
  • Restrictions: Travel to countries not listed above is not permitted.
  • Additional requirements: A travel package depending on the selected destination(s) need to be also bought. Additional insurance coverage for international travel may be required on a case-by-case basis.
  • Important Precondition: Written permission from the supplier is required for cross-border travel.

Restricted Roads / Areas of Use

Driving on dirt roads, off-road terrain, sand, or through water is strictly prohibited. All our vehicles are equipped with GPS trackers (see our Privacy Policy for more information). Please note that no insurance policy covers any damage resulting from off-road driving. In the event of such use, a penalty of €300 will apply, regardless of damage.

Optional Items / Extras

Special equipment and optional extras may be requested at the time of booking or at the pick-up time, but are subject to availability and change without notice.

Traffic Infringements & Fines

It is the renter's responsibility to cover the cost of any fines, such as speeding, parking fines, or toll evasion, incurred during the rental period. The supplier will charge you a fee to administer any fines.

Age Rules

The minimum age to rent is 21 years old for categories MINI, ECONOMY, COMPACT, and INTERMEDIATE. For all other categories, the minimum age to rent is 24 years old. The maximum age to rent is 85 years old. Additional fees apply for young or senior drivers.

Mileage Policy

Rates include unlimited mileage. To ensure the quality of our vehicles and services, OtoQ has implemented a fair usage policy on all unlimited mileage products. OtoQ reserves the right to take any necessary action or implement penalties if, in OtoQ's opinion, a customer’s usage is deemed excessive or abusive.

Fuel Policy

Same-to-Same Policy: Your vehicle will be supplied with a certain amount of fuel. You will be required to return the car with the same level of fuel that you received. If the vehicle is not returned with the same amount of fuel, the supplier will charge you for any missing fuel plus a refueling fee of 20€.

One-Way Rentals

One-way rentals are permitted with 48 hours' prior notice to the company. A one-way fee will be applied.

Driver Licence Rules

  • All drivers must have a valid license from their country of residence.
  • Driving licenses printed with non-Latin alphabets (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be complemented by an International Driving License or official translation.
  • The license must be valid for the entire rental period.
  • The license must have been held for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Additional proof of the driver's identity and address is required.

Amendments to Bookings

  • If you experience any delays, you must inform the office immediately prior to your reserved pick-up time.
  • You will not receive a refund if you return the vehicle early, reduce the number of days on your confirmed reservation, or downgrade the vehicle type from the category booked.

Deposit

CREDIT CARD HOLD: The estimated amount of the rental and excess amount, plus up to 100€, will be authorized against your credit card at the time of rental. This amount will no longer be available for your immediate use and may take up to 30 business days, after the end of the rental period, depending on your bank, to become available. We will not be responsible for any returned check(s), insufficient fund charges, or bank fees related to this process.

The deposit amount must be taken on a valid credit card. Please enquire at the local branch for details. All cards presented must be in the main driver’s name. A security deposit will be blocked to the credit card plus the estimated cost of the rental, and will be charged at the time of pickup. The deposit blocked on the card will be released by the cardholder’s bank upon notification after vehicle return.

Required deposit amount per car category:

  • 650€ for car groups MINI, ECONOMY.
  • 790€ for car groups COMPACT, INTERMEDIATE.
  • 1100€ for car groups INTERMEDIATE, Mini-SUV.
  • 1600€ for car groups SUV, HYBRID SUV, MINI VAN (7 SEATS).
  • 2500€ for car groups PREMIUM, LUXURY, PASSENGER VAN (9 SEATS).

For the deposit procedure, only credit cards are accepted.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation of your reservation should be made in writing. Telephone cancellations will not be accepted.
  • Cancellation made up to 48 hours prior to local pick-up time will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellation made less than 48 hours and up to 24 hours prior to local pick-up time will receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellation made less than 24 hours prior to local pick-up time will not be refunded.
  • The refund procedure may take up to 30 business days from the cancellation date.

Compensation Policy

For the rare case of unaccommodated bookings that fall under the local office’s liability, the potentially approved compensation amount for the entitled customer will be up to the booking price and must not exceed the total booking price as displayed on the OtoQ voucher the customer received upon booking confirmation.

Out-of-hours service is available on request. Fees apply for either pick-up, drop-off, or both.
