Rental Terms and Conditions
General Terms
- Supplier reserves the right to refuse or cancel booking at any time if you do not meet renting requirements.
- Please ensure that there are sufficient funds available at your debit or credit card.
- A valid driving license and passport must be held from all drivers.
- If your license was issued outside the country of collection, you must also bring your passport with you when collecting the vehicle. All additional drivers must meet the same license requirements as the main driver. The first driver is included in the rates but there is a daily charge for each additional driver.
- The vehicle is covered by roadside assistance for any mechanical faults. If the call out is due to driver negligence, for example lost keys or running out of fuel, the renter may be charged a breakdown call out fee.
- No Show — A failure to collect vehicle prior to your reserved pick-up time and date, might incur at minimum a no-show fee.
- Vehicle must be returned at or before the expiry of the term of hire and should be returned in the same condition as when rented, normal wear and tear excepted.
- You may be required to pay local tolls or highway fees, depending on where you intend to drive.
- Smoking is not permitted in the vehicle.
Security Bond
- The supplier requires a security bond when you collect the vehicle.
- The security deposit/bond is deducted from your credit card.
- Cash deposits are not accepted.
Restricted Roads / Areas of Use
- Any unpaved roads or off-road driving is prohibited. You will not be insured if you drive on these roads and therefore you will be fully liable for any damage that might occur.
Optional Items / Extras
- Special equipment and optional extras may be requested at time of booking but are subject to availability and change without notice.
Traffic Infringements
- It is your responsibility to cover the cost of any traffic infringements, such as speeding, parking fines or toll evasion, incurred during the rental period. The supplier will charge you a fee to administer any fines.
Driver Age Requirements
- MINI, ECONOMY: minimum 21 years old, license held for 1+ year.
- LUXURY, MINI VANS, SUVs: minimum 24 years old, license held for 3+ years.
- Young driver surcharge: $25/day under 25, max $250.
- Senior driver surcharge: $25/day for ages 71–75, max $250.
- Maximum rental age: 75 years old.
Mileage Policy
- Rates include unlimited mileage.
- OtoQ implements a fair usage policy. Excessive or abusive usage may incur penalties.
Fuel Policy
- Like-for-Like Policy: Vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level supplied. Missing fuel charged + $25 refueling fee.
One-Way Rentals
- Not permitted.
Driver License Rules
- All drivers must carry a valid full license from their country of residence. Non-Latin licenses require an International Driving License or official translation.
- License must be valid for the entire rental period and held for at least 1 year.
- Further proof of driver identity and address may be required.
- If delayed, contact office immediately. After 1 hour from pickup time, booking will be automatically cancelled.
- No refund for early return, reduced days, or vehicle downgrade.
Service Outside Normal Business Hours
- Out-of-hours service available for $50 per pickup, drop-off, or both.
Additional Driver
- Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements and can be added at any rental branch.
- Daily surcharge: $10 per additional driver, max $100.
- Maximum number of additional drivers: 2.
Late Return
- After 60 minutes late: full-day rate + $25 late fee.
Age Requirements
- Minimum 21 for MINI, ECONOMY, COMPACT, INTERMEDIATE.
- Minimum 24 for all other categories.
Cross Border Policy
- Not allowed.
Damage Waiver
- Covers renter’s liability for damages, excluding violations of Road Circulation Code.
- Deductible amounts:
- MINI, ECONOMY → $1000
- COMPACT, INTERMEDIATE → $1500
- MINI SUV, SUV → $1700
- VANS, MINI VANS, PREMIUM, LUXURY → $2250
- CDW exclusions: undercarriage, interior, windshield, mirrors, key damage, antenna, incorrect fuel, ferry transport without authorization, acts of God, terrorism, wheels, tires.
- CDW void if damage caused by: DUI, unauthorized drivers, racing, unlicensed drivers, border violations, towing/pushing, intentional damage, negligence, off-road driving, using for hire, violating local traffic laws, failing to secure keys/vehicle.
- Police report mandatory for any insurance coverage.
Delivery and Collection
- On-request service. Free within 15km during office hours; beyond 15km: $0.80/km including airport fee.
One Way Drop Policy
- Not available at this location.
Inclusive Policy
- Includes unlimited mileage, CDW, Theft Protection, Supplemental Liability, airport fee, and VAT. Extras may be purchased and subject to VAT/airport fee.
Forms of Payment
- Credit or debit card in renter’s name required.
- Visa and MasterCard accepted. Debit cards not accepted for deposit.
- Deposit: $500 + up to $150 fuel hold.
- Refunds may take up to 30 days.
Roadside Protection
- Free 24/7 roadside assistance.
- Driver negligence (lights left on, key damage, off-road use) charged at renter’s expense.
Renter Requirements
- License issued 12+ months prior.
- Accepted national licenses listed by country; International Driving Permit required for non-EU/Swiss licenses.
- All drivers must present full license + ID/passport; additional checks may apply.
Cleanliness / Detailing
- Vehicles returned extremely dirty: $30–$150 cleaning fee.
Supplemental Liability Protection
- Covers up to $10,000 per person for bodily injury/death and $10,000 for third-party property damage.
Theft Protection
- Deductible amounts:
- MINI, ECONOMY → $1000
- COMPACT, INTERMEDIATE → $1500
- MINI SUV, SUV → $1700
- VANS, MINI VANS, PREMIUM, LUXURY → $2250
- Attempted theft, key loss, personal belongings, acts of God, terrorism not covered.
- Police report + key required for coverage.
Cancellations
- Free cancellation up to 48h before pickup.
- No-show treated as cancellation with potential fee, except COVID-related cases.
- Refunds may take up to 12 weeks.
Compensation Policy
For the rare case of unaccommodated bookings that fall on the local office’s liability, the potentially approved compensation amount for the entitled customer will be up to the booking price and must not exceed the total booking price as displayed on the otoQ voucher the customer received upon booking confirmation.
Terms of Booking on This Website
- Booking service includes OtoQ website/software for transactions with listed parties.
- Rates may be incorrect due to errors; supplier may correct and allow cancellation.
- Supplier not liable for direct/indirect losses from website use.
